Charles Levan
Partner and liaison for New artist Development/acquisitions, Charles is
no stranger to the entertainment industry. Having previously worked for
seven years as a manger of product development, for The Right
Stuff/EMI-Capitol Records, North America, Charles gained his marketing
experience through marketing a myriad of back catalogs including that
of Hi Records (home to Al Green, Ann Peebles), Philly International
(Teddy Pendregrass, The Ojays), and Salsoul Records. While at The Right
Stuff, Charles marketed and launched several branded compilation series
including Electro Lounge, Slow Jams, Harley Davidson, and The American
D.J series.
But what has really shaped his interest to the world of music
placement was his co-producing the critically acclaimed "Electro
Lounge" re-mix series. A re-mix project that took Capitol's "Ultra
Lounge Series", and married it with contemporary electronic re-mixers
including Uberzone, Omni Trio, gus gus, Ian Pooley, and The Rip Off
Artist, to name a few. Subsequently the remix project caught the ear of
several music supervisors including that of Carl Craig, who featured
The Rip-Off artist’s remix, of Dean Martin’s "Sway" in the closing
credits of the 2000, U.K production, "Sexy Beast". In addition "Sway" was also featured in another U.K production
entitled "The Big Tease".
Forming Blue Buddha has been a natural progression enabling Charles
to work with some great unsigned and indie artists, with the goal of
helping them to further develop their craft, while providing a conduit
to music supervisors, with quality music geared to fit their needs. The
concept isn’t new but what remains consistent is Charles’ passion and
drive for discovering great music that warrants being heard and placed
into the universe of film, television, and other mediums.
Charles holds an M.B.A with an emphasis upon International Marketing,
from C.S.U.N and a B.A, in Marketing/Business Administration.
