Singer Songwriter, Brian Marshall began writing music in 1991 while
attending the University of California at Irvine. He and his friends
fought constant boredom through regular jam sessions. This led to
involvement in various bands, and an education in performance highs and
lows.
In 1994 Brian joined a band called Tex-Twil based out of Orange County.
It was this band that gave Brian his first experience of recording a
cd, touring and opening for some great bands... one of which was No
Doubt (on three occasions!). In spite of the positive press and warm
reception from crowds, tensions began to boil over and Brian found his
pink slip from the band in late '96.
Brian then moved to Seattle to start what became Mayfly with lifelong
friend Dan McKinnis. Together they wrote numerous songs, released 2
full-length cds ('From This Point On' in 1999 and 'Immersion' in 2000),
saw their music featured on MTV’s “Road Rules”, Fox TV’s “John Doe”,
the WB’s “Dawson’s Creek”, NBC’s “Las Vegas” and played hundreds of
shows around the Pacific Northwest.
In 2004, Brian began finishing up work on a new collection of songs
to record with long-time producer and collaborator Ashley Stubbert. Brian
and Ashley brought in a diverse group of musicians to bring the new
songs to life and continue the successes from the 'Immersion' cd in the
licensing/publishing world. Finished in November of 2004, “Stand On
Your Own” is Brian’s first solo cd.
