Coby Brown has been signing and playing guitar for a long time. He works to write songs that have the ability to pack a punch when performed solo or with a band. His voice, which more generous souls have compared to Stevie Wonder and Jeff Buckley, is the thread
that runs through the material and brings it all together.
In 1997, Coby while playing solo at various cubs in New York like the
Living Room and CB's Gallery, he met the fine fellows who would
eventually become the Coby Brown Group. In late 2000, the band
released their well receieved debut, "Homesick", and hit the road in
support of it. This, however, did not prove to be cost effective. In late 2001,
despite having built a reputation as a great live act, the band
dissolved and Coby relocated to Los Angeles, playing solo around LA at the Malibu Inn and Hotel cafe.
Currently Coby is working on new material that offers a more
stripped-down, streamlined sound, with an
emphasis squarely back on singing and writing songs that can stand on
their own, as with his song "The Distance" which
was previously featured in an episode of the W.B's "One Tree Hill".
