Formed in 1997, Juniper Moon, a spanish based punk-pop infused rock
band which blends punk and pop in their own unique way, appeals not
only to fans of Green Day but to fans of “new rock” icons such as, The
Strokes, The Vines, and & The White Stripes. Juniper Moon is no
stranger to the American music scene, having opened for prolific
American bands such as, Super Furry Animals, The Queers, Bostwanas,
and Chariot (ex-POSIES). Juniper Moon's unique sound can be best
described as; hyper-fast, punk-pop rock, as contrasted by the sweet
voice of lead singer Sandra and the distorted guitars of Dado, with
support from Raquel on Keyboards and vocals, Jaime on bass and Iván on
drums.
Juniper Moon's unmistakeable spanish infused rock songs can be best
described as having a teenage quality to them, while being balanced by
having a fresh pop-sound to them. Pop in the sense of a U.K
sensibility, which explains the band's popularity among U.K listeners
and receiving heavy airplay from Steve Lamacq on BBC radio one. Juniper
Moon's song writing abilities showcases their versatility to write not
only soft pop tunes like “Enfermedad”, and “Rutina" but also songs to
rock out to, as heard in the punk-pop explosion of "A veces sí, a veces
no".
In short, Juniper Moon is a band with a defining and unique sound
without being too experimental. They've created their own vibe by just
being themselves. For instance the song“El resto de mi vida” (“The
rest of my life”) tells a story through the lens of a teenager, and the
angst associated with being a teenager. When listening to this song,
the tune takes you back to those days and so, Juniper Moon has the true
gift to connect with the listener. Not to be missed!
