Named after the bouncy dolls seen in back of Taxi cabs, Taxi Doll was formed in July 2003 to bridge the gap between pop rock and electronic music. Inspired by a mix of Garbage meets The Chemical Brothers meets Blondie , Taxi Doll refer to the sound as “Rocktronica”, that which melds infectious electronic beats with rock inspired instrumentation and lush/sultry vocals that have a European twist to them. This formula has already garnered attention with early placements in UPN's Veronica Mars and Miiramax's "Shall We Dance".
Lead vocalist/writer, the iconic Dhana has a singing style that fuses classical and contemporary vocal training with her multi-cultural background (native European of Spanish and German descent), to completely express herself in her own way. Coupled with this,Dhana's vocal range and style translate into playful and sensual lyrics that at the same time given her depth and breadth to draw her listeners in with her passionate voice.
Producer co-writer, Gregg Allen aka G-Dub's motivation to form Taxi Doll came from the years of marketing bands like Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Borthers and others for Astralwerks/Virgin Records. “These projects changed everything for me. The sounds were bigger and more exciting to me than any bands at the time. After hearing these artists, I would constantly hear people say, this music rocks!”
Guitar player and back-up singer, Tony Buschauer, is a veteran of the thriving LA and Orange County music scenes. He has been involved in projects that have received national television exposure on shows such as "Dawson's Creek" and "Diagnosis Murder". Tony has exactly 206 bones in his body. He’s counted them twice! Bass player and back-up singer Randy Morris has worked with and amazing variety of producers and musicians ranging from Brian Reeves (producer: U2, Rooney) to Kenny Love (Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Beyonce), to Daniel Ash (Love and Rockets, Bauhaus), and everything in between. Randy’s prized possessions include 2 cats and a kick ass collection of used bandages
Gregg and Dhana met in late July through mutual producer friends who realized they both had the same desire and vision for creating this unique style of rock/dance. Immediately after the first song was written,
the band was formed and the Taxi Doll vision was realized.
Get in, buckle up and let Taxi Doll take you for a ride!
