The Neo Soul/Down tempo duo of Chris Tempas and Scottie B. better known
as "The Shift" hail from New York where they have become products of
this fertile western New York music scene, but from different sides of
its spectrum
Moving from breakbeats to thumping house and techno, Scottie B. had
risen to prominence as a DJ in New York in the late ‘90s. While Chris
received underground recognition in his various work in punk bands and
experimental music recording. The two eventually collided during a
sound design course at Syracuse University. Discovering common ground
in music, taste, and attitude, the two quickly sought to form a
creative team.
While "The Shift" has picked up speed, Scottie and Tempas have not
slowed down in the studio. Remixing popular songs like Khia’s My Neck
My Back for Artemis Records and releasing original work on labels like
Blunted Funk Recordings, they have been keeping busy. Today, when
they’re not working on new Shift or performing with the band, Scottie
still DJs worldwide, and Tempas produces original music for commercials
and film soundtracks.
The duo's record label sensibilities make their compositions non only
appealing for film an t.v shows but also for video games. So be on the
look out for the Shift as they continue to deliver solid well produced
songs to match the metropolitan landscape of New York and any big city.
